Deborah Robertson is a fiber artist working in wool. At the present time she is working on an art wear series of felted bird’s wings. Each shawl is made using very fine, soft merino wool. Each piece represents a different bird.
The idea for the bird’s wing series came to Deborah in a dream only a few days after she learned to make felt. To dream of flying indicates a liberation from our troubles, and also points to an expansion of our awareness and the unfolding of our higher selves.
Deborah has worked in a number of different media including printmaking, pottery, and the graphic arts. She was trained in Printmaking at the University of South Carolina where she got her BFA in 1981. Deborah has been living and working in Austin since 1987.
In February of 2008 her work was included in the New Horizons Biennial Show put on by the Texas Federation of Fiber Artists.
